Are you thinking of starting chiropractic? Great!…. Now comes the second and most important step; choosing the centre where you feel you are in the best hands. In this post, the Momentum Quiropràctic team gives you some tips when choosing your new chiropractor.
Once you have made the decision that you want to start chiropractic care, the next step is to find a chiropractic centre where start taking care of your spine. You probably have different criteria in mind when selecting the centre: the location, the reviews the centre has, the price… But have you considered the importance of selecting a centre based on its professional team and its values,…?
In this post we will tell you what factors you should take into account when choosing a chiropractic centre and why you should inform yourself about the team of the centre where you are considering to start your chiropractic care.
Philosophy and values of the chiropractic centre and its team
One of the most relevant factors is the philosophy of the centre and how they use it in their services and patient care. It is common to find different approaches to chiropractic care. One the one hand, there are chiropractic centres more focused on alleviating ailments, whereas other centres focus on spreading the preventive philosophy to optimise physical and emotional wellbeing in a holistic way.
Although each of the different chiropractic approaches is valid and it will always depend on which one best meets your needs, at Momentum Quiropràctic we believe it is important to integrate chiropractic adjustments as a regular and preventative care to fully enjoy all the benefits of chiropractic.
For example, at Momentum Quiropràctic, we empower the different patients with the ultimate goal that they are able to take control of their health, learn to manage their emotions and thus enjoy a life with less emotional (less stress, anxiety…) and physical (e.g. pain reduction, among) interferences.
Chiropractic team education
One of the most common doubts when discovering chiropractic is about the education of chiropractors. Chiropractic is a university degree of 5 to 7 years and the students who learn this profession obtain the Higher University Degree in Chiropractic. In addition, we are recognised as doctors of chiropractic by the European Chiropractors’ Union (ECU).
In Spain you can study and train in chiropractic at two universities: Barcelona College Of Chiropractic (next to Pompeu Fabra University) and Madrid College of Chiropractic (at Real Centro Universitario Escorial Maria Cristina, a centre attached to the Complutense University).
The Momentum Quiropràctic team, both Montse and Thomas, we have studied in the first promotion at the University of Barcelona. Throughout the chiropractic university studies, the medical basis of the human body is studied, as well as health specialties such as neurology, epidemiology, immunology or radiology.
It is very important that you check that the chiropractic centre you are considering is part of the Asociación Española de la Quiropráctica (AEQ), which regulates the profession in Spain. To do this, you can use their membership search engine and check if the chiropractic centre’s professional team is qualified.
For example, you can check that the Momentum Quiropràctic team is part of the AEQ by searching for Montserrat Vilahur Gies and Thomas Chiche. We recommend that you always make sure of the necessary qualification of the chiropractor to whom you will entrust your health! 😉
As an additional tip: make sure that the professional team is in constant learning by attending congresses, seminars to keep up to date with new scientific research.
“Chiropractic centre near me”.
We have all searched with the term “near me” when looking for a service on Google.
It is normal that we always try to find services that are centrally located or close to us. And, although this should not be a determining factor in selecting your chiropractic centre, we also want you to be aware that chiropractic care may require several chiropractic adjustments throughout the week. In other words, you may have to visit the centre more than once a week.
So, in this case, we do think it is important that the location of your chiropractic centre is one that does not put added stress on you (this is the last thing we want to happen to you!) by the fact that you have to travel a medium to long distance to get your chiropractic adjustment.
So, we recommend that you find a chiropractic centre close to your office, home or in a central area of your city.
Our patients always appreciate and value the fact that our chiropractic centre is located in such a central area of Barcelona so that they can combine their visits to Momentum Quiropràctic with their routines and day-to-day life… so keep the location factor in mind! 🙂
Patient experiences and reviews of the chiropractic centre
Another common practice (and highly recommended, by the way) is to check the reviews that patients share on different health directories such as Doctoralia or Google Business about their experiences with the chiropractic service received, the treatment by the chiropractic team and in general, the quality of the service.
And remember, it’s not about quantity but quality of reviews.
To sum up, the best way to start with chiropractic care is to do it in a centre with a qualified and professional team that looks after your health, while helping you to integrate chiropractic into your life along with healthy habits for your physical and emotional wellbeing.
If you want to get to know us better, you can see our profiles (education, professional experience, values…) on our Team page and visit Montse and Thomas‘ profiles on Doctoralia or our patients’ reviews on Google.
We are waiting for you with open doors and open arms at our Momentum Quiropràctic centre in the heart of Barcelona (Rambla de Catalunya, 11, 2-2A) to take care of you and your health and guide you while we are at your side to optimise your quality of life.
