As we mentioned at the beginning of this post, chiropractic is a health practice that is little recognised in Spain, despite the fact that countries such as Switzerland, Denmark, Finland and Norway, among others, include chiropractic care as part of public health care.

Scientific evidence supports the great positive impact of chiropractic on the wellbeing and development of the country and its inhabitants. For example, the study carried out by Sarnat et al. (2007) showed that chiropractic care considerably reduces the number of hospitalisations and their duration, as well as the number of outpatient surgeries and the cost of taking medication. In addition, it also plays an important role in the promotion of well-being at work for companies thanks to its potential, as we explained in this post.

That is why it is increasingly common to find insurers that offer health insurance where chiropractic is covered as a care plan for individuals and work teams.

Therefore, if you have health insurance for your family, your company offers private insurance or you have an international insurance coverage, you should check if it includes chiropractic care. The following is our experience as a chiropractic centre that includes our chiropractic care service for patients with private insurance.

The most common is that you can issue the invoice for the chiropractic service (chiropractic adjustment vouchers) to your insurance company and you will be reimbursed in full or in part, depending on the policy you have taken out. For example, insurers such as AXA with the Optima PLUS plan or Asefa, cover chiropractic care in full.

Therefore, it is recommended that if you are planning to start chiropractic care from scratch and your current insurer does not cover it, you take advantage of this and take out private insurance that integrates chiropractic as a health care plan for you or your family members.
